MOEW Continues its Role in Supporting its Institutions that Work in Equestrianism

The Ministry of Environment and Water held the extended meeting of the technical committee for Equine Affairs, on Wednesday, December 12. The meeting was headed by H.E. Engineer Saif al-Shara, Assistant Undersecretary for Agricultural and Livestock Affairs, and the members that are representatives and experts from the Emirates Authority for Horse Racing, the Emirates Association for Arabian Horses, the UAE Equestrian Federation of UAE, the Dubai Horse Racing Club, and the Dubai Research Laboratory of Veterinary Medicine.

H.E. Saif al-Shara highlighted the importance of the periodic meetings of the Technical Committee in maintaining the integrity of the health of the horses that regulate all matters pertaining Equine family in the country. They have  also discussed the country’s preparations for the endurance and track racing events of the season, which are culminated annually by the International World Cup for Horse Racing at a global distinctive symposium in Nad Al Sheba, Dubai.

His Excellency expressed the importance of the ongoing monitoring of the import and export requirements to keep pace with global requirements and particular requirements of the World Animal Health Organization ( OIE ). In addition to the importance of following up with international equine news, events, regulations and decisions concerning the prevalence of animal diseases and epidemics in the world.

Al-Shara said that the meeting comes within the ministry strategic framework to maintain its role in promoting the conservation of the UAE’s important gains from the institutions that are operating in the equestrian fields. This is to seek, improve and accelerate, performance in line with the internationally governing legislations in this field, which makes the UAE occupy a prominent place at the regional and international levels and in particular in the field of horse racing.

H.E. Al-Shara praised the efforts made ​​by various equestrian institutions in the country for promoting a beloved national sport, which is reflected clearly in the distinguished and renowned reputation gained by the UAE at an International level. H.E also, noted that this review, reflects the depth of partnership and cooperation between the Ministry of Environment and Water and various equestrian organizations in the country. This also reflects the Ministry’s commitment to coordinate its efforts to implement the activities and events that are suitable for the prestigious reputation gained by the United Arab Emirates in this area on both regional and international levels.
