UAE Ministry of Environment and Water continues to export Emirati products to global market

The UAE Ministry of Environment and Water has announced that the UAE has been permitted to export dairy products to the Republic of Malaysia as a result of its cooperative efforts to give access to local food products in global markets. The move is in line with the Ministry’s keenness to support food safety, according to the best international practices and in collaboration with local authorities concerned with food safety. The UAE has been granted permission only after the Malaysia Ministry of Agriculture, the Malaysia Department of Veterinary Services, and the Malaysia Department of Islamic Affairs assessed the veterinary services along with food control legislations and procedures which complied with Malaysian requirements last year. The UAE’s local producers are currently exporting products to Malaysia

H.E Eng. Saif Al Shara, Assistant Undersecretary for Agricultural and Livestock Affairs, UAE Ministry of Environment and Water, and Chairperson of the National Committee for Foods Safety, has affirmed that the UAE is the only country in the region to export dairy products to EU states and other countries such as Malaysia. Shipments have been sent to the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Denmark and Norway.

H.E. Al Shara noted that the Ministry is issuing health certificates attached to shipments exported to EU states, in order to verify the safety of products and their compliance with the regulations of the European Commission. The process begins right from production stage in farms in coordination with Dubai Municipality’s Veterinary Services and Department of Food Control and Dubai Central Laboratory.

He stated that amongst the most important exported products are pasteurized milk, flavored milk, yogurt, milk powder, and ice cream. The UAE’s she-camel milk products are believed to have a promising future due to its international reputation. Aside from following the highest standards of food safety, the best global practices are being followed in its production and manufacturing. The products undergo a health and veterinary supervision by controlling bodies to ensure the continuity of applying required conditions and procedures.
