Wadi Al Hayl and Al Hayl Fort

Overview

Wadi Al Hayl is yet another wilderness location set within spectacular Hajar mountainscape. Distinguishing features marking this valley include Al Hayl Fort (also referred to as Al Hayl Castle), dating to the 19th Century and green date plantations.

Outdoors activities in this respect include visiting a heritage site, seeing its traditional architecture and hiking in the area.

Al Hayl Fort is approximately 15 km southwest of Fujairah, travelling on the E89.
Accessible all year round.
There are shops and food and beverage outlets in and round Al Hayl.
Appropriate outdoors clothing and footwear. Hiking and camping equipment. A GPS unit for monitoring location in the wadis. Taking water and food is also recommended.
Hiking, experiencing nature and visiting an old fort.
October to April, however caution has to be taken with the mountain road during winter rains.
There is no entry fee.
