Approval Animal Feed and Food for Import

Requirements for processed animal feed

• Valid agency / agreement between the manufacturer and the local UAE
• Valid GMP or equivalent Certificate issue from the competent authorities in the country of origin.
• Free sale Certificate or equivalent issue from the competent authorities in the country of origin
• A copy of label of the product issued by manufacturer meet all of the following data:

1. The trade name of the product.
2. Ingredients and quantities of the product.
3. Target animal SPP.
4. Name and address of the manufacturer.
5. Storage conditions.
6. Indication.
7. Contraindications, warnings and precautions (if any).
8. Batch number, production date and expiry date.
9. Veterinary use only or for animal use only
10. In the case of feed mention” manufactured animal feed
11. Weight or net size.

• Certificate of analysis of the product from the manufacturer.
• Certificate from the manufacturer that the product is free from pork derivatives, any other harmful substances & the product is safe for animals and the environment

• Certificate from the manufacturer regarding adherence to the maximum limits of mycotoxins in the product according to UAE.S GSO 841:1997 Standard
• If the product contains a source of animal protein, a certificate issued by the competent authority in the country of origin must be submitted as follow:

1. The type of animal, the part used and its source.
2. Animal products used in the manufacture of the product are taken from animals examined before and after slaughter.
3. The product comes from a country / region free of avian flu if the product contains poultry meat and their products or treated the product by heat at 70 ° C for at least 30 minutes or the equivalent.
4. The product comes from a country free from BSE or is classified with a controlled risk neglect able / for mad cow disease - if the product contains beef (provided that the feed is not used in ruminants feed)
5. Animal feed must be not containing meat, bone meal, and other animal derivatives derived from ruminants except milk and its replacer.

• In the case that the product contains (substances containing or produced by genetically modified organisms); must be mention in the label: (genetically modified) under the ingredients in the same line size, but in a different color according to UAE.S/GSO 2142:2011 Standard
• Certificate of product analysis from an accredited laboratory in the United Arab Emirates, if the product targets horses

Requirements for Processed aquatic food

• Free sale Certificate or equivalent issue from the competent authorities in the country of origin
• A copy of label of the product issued by manufacturer meet all of the following data.

1. The trade name of the product.
2. Ingredients and quantities of the product.
3. Target animal SPP.
4. Name and address of the manufacturer.
5. Storage conditions.
6. Indication.
7. Contraindications, warnings and precautions (if any).
8. Batch number, production date and expiry date.
9. Veterinary use only or for animal use only
10. In the case of fish feed mention” manufactured fish feed”.
11. Weight or net size.

Requirements for Pet animals’ feed ( CATS, DOGS)

• Free sale Certificate or equivalent issue from the competent authorities in the country of origin
• A copy of label of the product issued by manufacturer meet all of the following data:

1. The trade name of the product.
2. The trade name of the product.
3. Ingredients and quantities of the product.
4. Target animal SPP.
5. Name and address of the manufacturer.
6. Storage conditions.
7. Indication.
8. Contraindications, warnings and precautions (if any).
9. Batch number, production date and expiry date.
10. Veterinary use only or for animal use only
11. In the case of pet feed mention” pet food only”.
12. Weight or net size.

• Certificate of analysis of the product from the manufacturer.
• If  product contains a source of animal protein, a certificate issued by the competent authority in the country of origin must be submitted as follow:

1. The type of animal, the part used and its source.
2. Animal products used in the manufacture of the product are taken from animals examined before and after slaughter.

Requirements for accredited animals feed not included in the food chain

Veterinary health certificate stating the following:

1. The animals are imported from establishments registered with the competent authority and under government veterinary supervision.
2. The products are from animals that were not killed as part of the eradication program of epidemic and infectious diseases.
3. The animals were examined the source of the products and were free from any symptoms of epidemic or infectious diseases
4. The product must be intended for animal consumption.
5. The type of animal, the part used and its source.
6. In the event that the product contains protein of poultry origin, that the product is imported from a country / region free of bird flu, or the product has been heat treated at a temperature of 70 ° C for at least 30 minutes or its equivalent.
7. In the event that the product contains protein of cow origin, the product is imported from a country in which BSE has not been registered, or it is classified with controlled risks or with neglected risks in relation to BSE.

First: It is Allowed for Licensed establishments to apply for accreditation according to the following:

Approval of manufactured animal feed:

1. For those who have obtained the following licenses: (Practicing an animal activity for animal the activity of importing and exporting animal feed or a license for veterinary preparation facilities issued by the Emirates Drug Authority that includes the activity of a veterinary pharmaceutical warehouse or a license for a veterinary facility – commercial animal production farms

PET Animal Feed Approval:

1. For holders of the following licenses: (Practicing an animal activity for the import and export of animal feed - PET animal feed, or a veterinary preparation facility license issued by the Emirates Drug Authority that includes the activity of a veterinary pharmaceutical warehouse

Approval of animal feeds not included in the food chain:

1. For holders of the following licenses: practicing animal activities (zoos and animal parks / breeding centers / specialized care and shelter centers) and importing and exporting animal feed)

Approval of manufactured and unprocessed aquatic feed:

1. For holders of the following licenses: Practicing animal activity for the activity of importing and exporting animal feed – manufactured aquatic feed and unmanufactured aquatic feed and a license to establish an aquatic production farm

Second: The authorized agent must renew the approval of the manufactured animal feed, everyfive years.

Third: The following materials are approved: (companion animal food / animal food not included in the food chain / processed aquatic food / unprocessed aquatic food) and included in a list available to all establishments according to the submission powers mentioned above.
