    About:

    The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment launched the National Dialogue for Food Security (NDFS) as part of its strategy to develop agribusiness and responsible investment in agriculture and sustainable food systems. It is one of the main objectives of promoting research and development programs and adopting advanced technology to enhance food, water and environmental security.

     

    It aims to:

    discuss the various challenges and issues that contribute to enhancing the food security of the UAE.

    It depends on managing constructive dialogue and discussion between the various actors and partners in the country from both the government and private sectors

    1. Support the 'Plant the Emirates' National Programme: This program serves as an incubator for ideas and innovations aimed at enhancing the agricultural sector. Key objectives include:

    • Increasing the number of productive farms by 20% and organic farms by 25%.
    • Encouraging the adoption of climate-smart solutions across 30% of farms.
    • Reducing agricultural food waste by 50%.

    2. Establishment of the National Agricultural Centre: The center focuses on supporting Emirati farmers to boost domestic agricultural production. It provides:

    About:

    As part of its strategy to enhance food diversity, ensure its sustainability and biological diversity, and preserve the sustainability of fishing, agriculture, animal husbandry, and animal husbandry, the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment organized forums and councils with customers, including fishermen, farmers, and animal breeders in the country.

     

    It aims to:

    listen to a detailed explanation from customers about the most important challenges faced by citizens of the country working in the aforementioned trades, and to discuss with them the best ways and mechanisms to overcome these challenges in order to ensure environmental sustainability.

     

    Process:

    23 forums were organized for all customers throughout the year 2022 with the aim of clarifying the new procedures and fees, in addition to introductory presentations of the re-engineered services in attendance with the participation of 512 customers.

    About:

    As part of its strategic directions to enhance the participation of all sectors in achieving the UAE's goals towards achieving climate neutrality by 2050, the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment has completed the "National Dialogue on Climate Ambition" initiative for the year 2023.

     

    It aims to:

    exchanging experiences and the best effective ways to achieve climate neutrality 2050 between companies and local authorities and unite national efforts.

     

    Process:

    The initiative, which will continue its activities on an ongoing basis during the year 2023, depends on holding a monthly meeting, during which the needs, requirements and priorities of several sectors in the country are discussed separately.

    In 2024, the UAE's Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) advanced climate action through several key initiatives, many of which were influenced by the outcomes of the National Dialogue for Climate Ambition:

    1. Extension of the 'Year of Sustainability': Under the directive of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the 'Year of Sustainability' was extended into 2024. This extension underscores the UAE's dedication to embedding sustainable practices across all sectors and fostering a culture of sustainability within society.

    About:

    The fishing craft is one of the most important pillars of national food security, and fishermen play a prominent role in promoting this craft. The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment held a council of fishermen's associations, where fishing activity is an important pillar to enhance the UAE's efforts to achieve sustainability, especially in light of the UAE's declaration of 2023 as the Year of Sustainability.

     

    It aims to:

    Learn about the challenges and opportunities to improve fishing activity in the country in order to ensure the promotion of food security sustainability.

     

    Process:

    During a meeting with Her Excellency the Minister, several issues of importance to fishermen were reviewed.



    Outcome

    The outcomes of the consultation were as follows: Firstly, it was decided to focus on holding periodic meetings with fishermen. This initiative aimed to foster open communication and collaboration between the Ministry and the fishermen, with the goal of finding sustainable solutions to the various challenges they encounter in their profession.


    Secondly, the Ministry expressed its willingness to actively engage with the fishermen, demonstrating a commitment to work together in order to address the challenges they face. This collaborative approach aimed to create an environment where the concerns and perspectives of the fishermen were taken into account when formulating policies and making decisions.


    Lastly, one of the fishermen was honored for his significant contribution to environmental conservation. Specifically, he played a crucial role in releasing a whale shark back into the sea, which had a tangible positive impact on the environment. This act not only showcased the fisherman's awareness of environmental issues but also highlighted the importance of promoting sustainable practices within the fishing community.


    Overall, the outcomes of the consultation emphasized the importance of ongoing dialogue, collaboration, and recognition of individuals' efforts in achieving sustainable solutions and raising environmental awareness within the fishing industry.

    Public Consultation to Measure Satisfaction, Awareness & Confidence of MoCCAE Digital Services

    Overview:

    The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment has taken a step aimed at continuing its strategy to ensure that all services are provided in accordance with standards of quality, efficiency and transparency, which contributes to flexibility and continuity of services.


    Objective:

     The campaign aims to obtain customer inputs regarding the services provided and improve the services based on the inputs and feedback received 

     

    Process:

    Through a questionnaire measuring satisfaction, awareness and confidence about the use of digital services 2022, where 1189 responses were collected

    Brief:

    The international movement of pets, specifically dogs and cats, requires strict regulations to ensure animal welfare, public health, and the control of animal diseases. This consultation aims to review and recommend updates to the current ministerial decree governing the importation of dogs and cats.


    Objectives:

    • Evaluate current import regulations for dogs and cats, focusing on health, welfare, and procedural requirements.
    • Propose amendments to align with international guidelines and enhance public and animal health protections.

    The results of the consultation showed the need to update the provisions of Resolution No. (109) of 2021 regarding the conditions for importing cats and dogs to enhance compliance with safety, health and management standards.

    Brief:

    The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) in the UAE is committed to enhancing sustainable agricultural practices by providing various support materials and programs. These initiatives aim to promote food security, optimize resource utilization, and support farmers in adopting eco-friendly farming techniques.

    Objectives:

    • To enhance agricultural productivity sustainably.
    • To support farmers in reducing operational costs.
    • To promote the use of modern and environmentally friendly farming inputs.

    The Agricultural Support Materials Programs by MOCCAE are vital for fostering sustainable agriculture and supporting the UAE's food security goals. Your valuable feedback will help refine these programs, ensuring they effectively meet the needs of farmers while promoting environmental sustainability.



    Outcome

    The consultation showed that 52.34% of farmers reported benefiting from MOCCAE's support programs, with 25.76% receiving assistance five or more times annually.

     

    Water scarcity was highlighted as a critical issue, with 63.85% practicing open-field farming requiring efficient irrigation systems. Additionally, 65.35% engaged in traditional farming methods requested better quality seeds, fertilizers, and pest control materials.

     

    65% of respondents expressed interest in training on modern techniques like greenhouse farming and solar-powered systems. Farmers also recommended more frequent distribution cycles and improved material allocation to enhance accessibility and program efficiency.

     

    Based on the results, the Ministry has created several ways to support farmers:

    - "Climate Change and Environment" reviews ways to support farmers in the Eastern Region

    - A comprehensive plan to support farmers to increase local food production

    - "Plant the Emirates" launches initiatives to support farmers and increase local production

    The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) is keen on enhancing its performance and its interaction with the public while establishing strong relationships with them.     The participants expressed a greater interest in discussing environmental and climate topics compared to others. Therefore, consultations were focused on issues related to the environment and animals.     In today's digital age, social media is a primary channel for reaching and engaging with audiences. The quality of content shared on these platforms directly impacts brand perception, customer engagement, and conversion rates. To maximize the effectiveness of social media efforts, it's crucial to continuously enhance the quality and relevance of content.


    Objectives:

    • Assess the current state of content across social media platforms.
    • Identify opportunities to improve engagement, clarity, and consistency.
    • Develop actionable recommendations to enhance content quality.

    Through a survey link that was published on the social media channels to reach the target audience

    The results of the consultation showed the extent of customers' satisfaction with the social media platforms of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment. It was explained that Instagram is their preferred platform at 83.9%, followed by Facebook at 16.1%. Most participants prefer Arabic at 66% as a language of communication and wish to add other languages such as Hindi and Chinese.     About:

    The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) launched the National Dialogue for Climate Ambition (NDCA).

     

    It aims to:

    define and raise sectoral climate ambition and advance all-inclusive participation in the UAE Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative to meet the country's international climate commitments, particularly the Paris Agreement.

     

    Process:
