According to Ministerial Decision No. (138) of 2023 on regulating the circulation of hydrofluorocarbon compounds (HFCs), companies can import these compounds ( HFCs ) by registration with the ministry and fulfillment of all the requirements required before importing, as it is subject to the approval of the ministry.

By applying through the Ministry's website under the online service "Export of hazardous waste". the required documents are:

1.Basel convention notification form

2.Basel convention movement form

3.Valid contract between the two companies

4.Valid insurance

5.Valid Trading license

6.Valid Environmental Permit
QWhat are the requirements for exporting plastic waste?Category : Environment and Green Development

A new entry to Basel Convention that became effective since 1 January 2021 clarifies the scope of plastic wastes which is subject to the Basel Convention PIC procedure if it’s presumed to be hazardous or if it presumed to be mixed and therefore, in order to determine whether the waste will be subject to the Basel Convention PIC procedure and will require an export permit to be issued the following must be submitted to the Ministry:

- Prior consent letter allowing the import of this waste from the competent authority in the country of import

- Full description of the plastic waste (Exact quantity, number of shipments, is it Mixed plastic or Non-Mixed)

- Certified lab analysis of the waste

- Reason for export

- Treatment method in the country of import
QWhat are the requirements for importing of hazardous waste (such as Batteries, used oil, e-waste, medical waste, etc) ?Category : Environment and Green Development

Based on the Federal Law number 24 for 1999 regarding the protection and development of the environment, it is not allowed to import hazardous waste to the UAE.
QDoes the ministry grant licenses to build waste treatment plant or facility, etc?Category : Environment and Green Development

Specialized authorities are the ones qualified to issue licenses for the establishment of waste treatment facilities.
