The Ministry of environment and water began a series of practical workshops and orientation sessions for specialists in organic products with the aim of introducing the executive regulations under the Federal Law No.5 (2009)
concerning the organic inputs and products, the principles of organic farming, the agricultural inputs documented as organic and how it would be produced at farms, in addition to introduction sessions to procedures of inspection, auditing, certification and the organic brand in the United Arab Emirates and its requirements.
Organic agriculture is characterized in the non-use of any chemicals, synthetics or genetically modified substances and features the use of natural materials in the control operations and to follow agricultural practices to maintain environmental consistency, to reuse animal and plant waste and to recycle them and to adopt preventive methods rather than drugs or antibiotics that harm the environment and members of the community. Organic agriculture also works on soil nitrogen supply by focusing on the cultivation of nitrogen-fixing plants, and plant protection which is based on prevention rather than treatment.
