Service Description

Through this service, slaughterhouses outside UAE are approved for slaughtering animals and poultry after ensuring their applying with food safety systems and legislations based on the risk analysis approved by UAE. This includes meat shredding and storage facilities in order to allow the export of animal meat and poultry meat slaughtered to UAE (valid for one year starting from the issuing date)

To apply for a service over any of the service channels, you should register in the digital services system From here

  1. Fill out the electronic form
  2. Evaluating the application and complete the procedures electronically
  3. Carrying out evaluation visit with coordination of competent authority (if required)
  4. Issuing the slaughterhouse accreditation certificate electronically

Required Documents

  1. Certificate of registration / license of the slaughterhouse issued by the relevant veterinary and / or food control authorities in the country of origin
  2. Valid Certificate of application of food safety management system & quality management system Internationally recognized issued by:
  • The relevant authorities in the country of origin. or;
  • A certification body having a legal office in the same country of origin of the slaughterhouse and approved by the relevant authorities in the country of origin to run their conformity assessments & certification activities. or;
  • A certification body having a legal office in the same country of origin of the slaughterhouse & this office, in particular, is accredited by an accreditation body in the same country of origin that is internationally recognized & has a full membership in the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) & provided that the scope of accreditation covers FSMS & QMS that is/are specified in the certificate issued to the slaughterhouse. or;
  • A certification body having a legal office in the same country of origin of the slaughterhouse & this office, in particular, is accredited by an accreditation body in UAE that is internationally recognized & has a full membership in the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) & provided that the scope of accreditation covers FSMS & QMS that is/are specified in the certificate issued to the slaughterhouse. or;
  • A certification body having a legal office in the same country of origin of the slaughterhouse & this office, in particular, is accredited by an accreditation body that is internationally recognized & has a full membership in the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) with the following conditions:
  1. provided that the scope of accreditation covers FSMS & QMS that is/are specified in the certificate issued to the slaughterhouse.
  2. The certification body is listed in the IAF website 

3. Valid certificate of accreditation for certification body in case of 2 (b), 2 (c) , 2 (d) or 2 (e)


Terms and Conditions

For slaughterhouse accreditation outside United Arab Emirates (UAE), must comply with the last updated version of the Technical Regulations, standards and hygienic practices for exporting meats to the UAE per the following:

General Technical Regulations and hygienic practice for:

  1. Federal Act on Food Safety No. (10) of 2015 & its Bylaw
  2. Code of Hygienic Practice for Preparation, Transportation, Handling and Storing of Fresh Meat (UAE.S GSO 815)
  3. Code of hygienic practice for meat (UAE.S/GSO CAC RCP 58)
  4. General Principles of Food Hygiene (UAE.S GSO 1694)
  5. Hygienic Regulations for Food Plants and their Personnel (UAE.S GSO 21)
  6. General Requirements for Transportation and Storage of Chilled and Frozen Foods (UAE.S GSO 323)

Specific Technical Regulations and hygienic practice for:

  • In Livestock’ slaughterhouses: 
  1. Livestock meat chilled and frozen (UAE.S GSO 996)
  2. Organs and Viscera of Mutton, Goat, Cattle, Camel and Buffalo (Chilled and Frozen) (UAE.S GSO 835)
  • In Poultry slaughterhouse:
  1. Hygienic Regulations for Poultry Processing abattoirs and their Personnel (UAE.S GSO 713)
  2. Frozen Poultry (UAE.S GSO 986)
  3. Chilled Poultry (UAE.S GSO 322)

Remarks:

  • The approved slaughterhouse must only use the approved health certificate Model for the exportation of its approved products to the UAE
